Chateau Lafite-Rothschild 1961 Pauillac
Château Lafite Rothschild is an iconic first-growth property in Pauillac, North West of Bordeaux, France with vines first planted in the late 16th century by the Ségur family. It achieved its top-tier rank in 1855 and has been in the Rothschild family since 1868.
Lafite was listed as one of only four 1st Growths in the famed 1855 Classification of Medoc - though sister-estate Ch.Mouton-Rothschild gained promotion from 2nd (2eme Cru) to 1st-Growth in 1973.
Classic Cabernet Sauvignon dominant, left-bank Bordeaux-blend; matured in new oak barrels for between 18 to 20 months.
This wine is from the legendary 1961 vintage.
