Chateau Montrose 1961 St-Estephe 2eme-Cru
Located in the appellation of Saint-Estephe, Chateau Montrose is a 2nd Growth (2eme Cru) estate in the 1855 Classification of the Medoc, and is frequently referred to as one of the leading "Super Seconds" - 2nd Growth wines of quality comparable to the 1st Growths of Bordeaux.
Château Montrose takes its name from the colour of the heather that covers the Château’s moorlands. The 95 hectare vineyard in one single block, a rare and unusual advantage in the Medoc region.
Classic left-bank Bordeaux-blend. Montrose's wine is typically a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc and is matured in oak barriques (30% new) for 18 months.
