Taylor's Historical Edition Reserve Tawny Port 1 Litre
This is a limited edition release which recreates a historic bottle from the first half of the 18th century. These bottles had an oval and narrow shape and are often described as “flat nuts” or "bladder shaped". This historic edition comes wrapped in a wooden box engraved with the distinctive symbol ‘4XX’ used by Taylor’s and that is his trademark. This symbol consists of the first bottle with commercial seal of which there is record and dates back to the beginning of the activity of the producer, in 1692.
Tawny Port is a particular style of Port in which the fortified wines are aged for a number of years in small oak casks. This process of deliberate and careful oxidative maturation imparts typical characteristics of stewed fruits, nuts and leather. The wines do not age or improve further upon bottling.
We would recommend viewing/close inspection prior to placing any bids. If this is not an option and you have questions beyond the offered description and images, please contact us for a more in-depth condition report. Otherwise lots will be sold as seen in the images.
Please note: Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit.
