Domaine Schoffit "Rangen De Thann" Vendanges Tardives Riesling 1996 Alsace Grand Cru 3x50cl
The history of Alsace, flitting between French and German ownership for centuries, imparts itself within the region's wines - a cacophony of grapes native to both countries, ennobled and respected individually, and produced in a common aromatic style.
One of Alsace's 4 "Noble Grapes", this Riesling is from the specific parcel of Clos Saint-Theobald within - as many critics acclaim - Alsace's single greatest Grand Cru vineyard, Rangen De Thann.
Vendanges Tardives, or late harvest, means that the grapes were picked at full ripeness with a high natural sugar content, resulting in a wine with a slightly sweet character.
