International Shipping Information

We understand that shipping is an important service aspect for our customers, which is why we work hard to develop strong relationships with our delivery partners to ship to as many global locations as possible, stay up to date with all international regulations and provide the best possible service.

We are pleased to announce that we will not be introducing increased shipping fees as we enter into 2021. With all the uncertainty around Brexit, the last thing our customers need is to figure out a new shipping fee structure in addition to other changes – so we will hold our charges for shipping, including to Europe, until further notice.

See below for information about the delivery options in your country.

  • All prices quoted are based on a standard 75cl bottle and therefore may vary for heavier or larger bottles. Prices are inclusive of VAT where applicable.

  • All deliveries must be signed for upon arrival by persons over the legal drinking age in the destination country - proof of age may be required. We will not instruct couriers to leave parcels in any location where signature of a recipient over the age of 18 is unattainable.

  • Delivery is available between Monday and Friday only.

  • Delivery companies may require contact details for the recipient. Please include a phone number or email with the recipient address when placing an order.

  • Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit. Except where the customer has opted and paid for Loss & Breakage Assurance, the risk of loss and/or breakage in transit is exclusively held by the customer; no claims shall be entered into by or against Wine Auctioneer.

  • All orders being shipped outwith the UK may be eligible for local taxation and duties upon arrival in the destination country, which are payable by the customer.

As confirmed above, we will still be able to ship items based at our UK office bought at our auctions to you. However, because of the processes required to do so, there is likely to be a longer time period for you to receive your bottles and an increase in costs.

FROM OUR MARCH 2021 AUCTION - Buyers based in Sweden, France, Italy or Poland, should understand the following three points before placing a bid on a UK based lot:

  1. Prior to checkout, please contact us to arrange delivery to you.  There will be an additional charge of £10 for the first bottle and £5 each bottle thereafter.  This is in light of the additional resource required to ship bottles to these countries.
  2. Please allow up to 21 days for your order to arrive, we thank you for your patience with this new timescale.
  3. An additional charge of 20% of the hammer price will be charged post-auction. This covers any local taxes that would have been payable to receive the order into your country. Therefore, you will not need to pay any local taxes or other import/customs related fees upon receipt of your order.

PLEASE NOTE: The three points above are NOT applicable to other locations in the EU or elsewhere outside the UK when shipping orders based at our UK office out of the UK.  Please ensure that you are aware of any country specific customs, duties or fees that are applicable to your local area before you bid as we are unable to provide refunds on purchases which have been destroyed, delayed or returned to us due to customs, administrative issues and/or unpaid fees/taxes.

As we enter 2021, this is one area we are not able to be so concrete on. At the time of writing, there still is not a clear agreement between the UK and EU, so, after 31 December 2020, shipments between the UK and European Union countries may be liable for local customs/duties charges. These charges will likely vary from country to country and we would recommend finding out what the charges will be for your country before bidding. A good place to start is your government’s website to see if they offer any guidance on what tariffs will apply from 1 January 2021.

We are only able to ship to the following states and districts; Alaska, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Washington D.C., Florida, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Wyoming.

We are unable to provide tracking information and the shipment may take up to 14 days to arrive.

Can I insure my bottles?

Most courier companies fail to cover alcohol or glass on their insurance policies. We can offer Loss & Breakage Assurance (formerly "Risk Free Shipping") for your items at a cost of 3% of the total hammer price and commission.

Loss & Breakage Assurance is not a regulated insurance policy - strictly a formal agreement between ourselves and buyer - and does not cover leakage in transit.

Loss & Breakage Assurance is automatically added to your order at the checkout stage, however, this can be removed.

We have many years experience in shipping wine globally and work hard to reduce any risk of damage to items bought in our auctions.

Can I store items to save on shipping costs at a later date?

Items can be stored with us for combining multiple orders and dispatching at a later date.

Storage charge of 2% +VAT will be applicable for each 90 day storage period, or part thereof.

To arrange shipping at later time of your convenience, simply complete our Ship Stored Orders form and we will add delivery charge to your shopping cart, ready for your payment and our subsequent dispatch of your order(s).

Can I collect my winning lots in person?

Yes - simply select the Collection option during creation of your order though our online checkout.

To arrange collection of your order(s), appointments must be booked online in advance - using our online booking form.

Our office is open Monday to Friday 10:00 to 17:00. Weekend collections are possible though must be booked by Friday prior.

As wines are stored in a warehouse separate from our main facility, your order will not be available for collection unless booked in advance.

From 1st January 2021, collections must be completed within 21 days from close of auction, otherwise storage charge will be applicable.

How long does it take to receive my winning lot(s)?

Your wine order will be dispatched within 7 working days following receipt of payment.

UK orders normally arrive within two days of dispatch.

European orders normally arrive within five days of dispatch.

The rest of the world can vary dependent on location.

If you need an item faster, please let us know and we will try our hardest to meet your expectations!
